GetRight Downloading
Utility |
 |
|
 |
This
utility is a definite must for anyone who
wants to save time when downloading
files. If you're computer gets cut off
from the internet, GetRight will pick up
right where it was, so you don't waste
time downloading things again after a
power failure, or an internet connection
loss. VERY HANDY! |

WinAmp MP3 Audio
Player |
 |
|
 |
This
is the Definitive MPEG audio player for
Windows. It is incredibly easy to use,
and it has a cool interface, with a built
in equalizer, spectrum analyzer, play
list editor, different 'skins' that you
can download, or edit yourself. This is
currently my favorite MP3 player. Version 2.81 has been released.
This thing just
keeps getting better, and better, and the best part is
that it's now completely FREE! Winamp3 is also
available, but it takes much longer to load, and isn't
nearly as functional which is why I don't use it.
It's prettier, but looks aren't everything. |

WinZip Archiving
Utility |
 |
|
 |
This
is the easiest (and most functional)
windows zip utility that I have ever
used. If you use .zip files a lot, then
WinZip will come in handy. Version 6.3 is
available, and also has the feature to
'span' disks. Do you know that you can
compress around 15Mb of MIDI files into
less than 3.5MB? |

WinAce Archiving Utility |
 |
|
 |
Ellis was the one
who brought this nifty program to my attention when she
sent some design sketches compacted into .ace files.
My reaction was reasonable... o_O? It handles
pretty much all types of decompressing internally, arj,
rar, zip, cab... etc. And it can compress files
more than WinZip sometimes, so hey, give it a try. |

Microangelo : Icon
Editing Utility |
 |
|
 |
Microangelo
is the best and easiest icon utility
package anywhere on the net. Microangelo 5.5 contains the Studio (edit icons),
Librarian (store in .DLL or .ICL files,
also reads from .EXE and .DLL files),
Browser (easily find what you're looking
for), Engineer (let's you change almost
all of your Windows icons), Explorer
(which lets you browse through folders
and programs much like the Windows
Explorer). The studio will also let you
import GIF and BMP files for your icons. The
latest incarnation also supports WindowsXP. |

Watchcat : Windows System Tray Utility |
 |
|
 |
Liz asked me to
find a program that would let her quickly hide Internet
Explorer into the system tray whenever her boss would
walk by, and I came across this gem of a utility.
There are many options you can configure such as setting
up hotkeys to do about anything. I've got it set
up to minimize whatever my current window is to the
system tray by pressing "Ctrl+Shift+W". Works
great when your mother walks by and you're working on
part of her Christmas gift in Poser. ;) Watchcat
is a brilliant little utility that is absolutely free,
and well worth taking a look. |

AdAware by Lavasoft |
 |
|
 |
AdAware by the
German company Lavasoft is a great tool to find out what
sort of programs you may have inadvertently installed
(or been duped into installing) that keeps track of
where you've been and where you frequently visit.
Spy-ware. Nasty nasty stuff. Options to
back-up the files that deletes will help recover
accidentally deleted 'safe' files. |

Pop-up Stopper by Panicware |
 |
|
 |
Been browsing the
internet for years, then some genius comes up with the
idea of using 'pop-up' windows for advertisement.
Said genius is then tarred, feathered, and stoned in the
town square for unleashing a Devil. Pop-up Stopper
does just what it says. Efficiently, easily, and
more importantly, freely. |

Programs I've used to create this
site...
 |
Microsoft FrontPage
Express 2.0 |
 |
|
 |
I use this for the main
layouts, and colour scheming that I do.
I'm not that good at HTML, and I don't
have that much time to spend on learning
it, so I like this program (yes, even
though it's Microsoft) because it's easy,
and is actually pretty thorough. Well,
unfortunately, the only way that I've
seen to get this program is by getting
Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.0 or
higher, and you have to do the Full
Installation of it too (Which is 25Mb or
so), not just the browser. But hey, it's
FREE! So you can't complain. :) FrontPage
Express is one of the installation
components for Windows 98.

Color Fazer : HTML
Text Blender |
 |
|
 |
It took me a while to find
this great utility... I knew that it
existed, but I didn't know the name of
it, but after about 7 hours of searching
the Internet, I came up with CFAZER! This
handy app, let's you type in a sentence,
phrase, title, whatever... and let's you
decide what colours you want to blend the
text to. It has a few presets, but of
course, I made my own for the MP3 Titles,
and also the Chapter Titles for most of
the other pages, oh, and the Coming Next
Week title as well. This program is
FREEWARE, but the link that comes with it
is no longer valid, so I don't know if
there are any more updates to it. You can
do an FTP Search for it, or just click on
the Color Fazer image to the left, and
get it from my Tripod account. :) The
program comes in a 1.6Mb Zip file.

|
| |
 |
Notepad : Text
Editor |
 |
|
 |
I use this to 'fine-tune'
the pages. Sometimes FrontPage likes to
format things that I don't want
formatted, or it just wont let me in
between tables that have come too close
together... at any rate, I do know enough
about HTML to do some basic editing, and
that's where this puppy comes in... It's
just your simple Text Editor. It might
not be Notepad, but every operating
system comes with one. (dos -> edit)
(windows -> notepad) (Unix -> Pico)
you name it. |

Well, I've been getting a few
requests asking me which programs I've used to make this
site, so as a service announcement, to the world, and to
those people who make the software I use, I put up
information, and also links to where you can download the
software. If anyone knows of any other programs out there
that I might like, just let me know, and I'd be glad to
take a look.
