A House of Riddles!  Mysteries abound at the Hinata Apartments.  When the rent money vanishes Detective Kitsune takes the case.  Then there's a mysterious woman who appears when the moon is red.  Her behavior is rather odd, and now that you mention it, she looks a lot like Kaolla.  And is that an alligator?

Suddenly Naru's on the fast track to stardom when she becomes an idol singer.  Will she be leaving the apartments for good?  Will Shinobu and Motoko be joining her?

Then, Motoko finds her chi drained.  Unable to utilize her marital arts powers, she becomes a shell of her former proud, confident self.  Who is left to protect the Hinata Apartments from its greatest threat yet?

<Gobble gobble shmorhg chomp chomp chomp>  Okay, I just devoured that volume.  Mancer has this "thing" where he sits down and watches an episode or two at a time, watches one a night to... what was it?  Oh yes... "in order to savor the series" or something like that.  I, on the other hand, have a slightly different approach.  I consume things.  It doesn't really matter what it is.  Fine chocolate, pretty ladies, pizza, music, really really good funny anime, it all goes down with frightening efficiency.  Love Hina is no exception.

The third volume seems to veer from the Tokyo U path that was set in the first two volumes and heads into the "random" part of just about every series for variety.  Not that the show needs it though.  Episode 11 jabs at the insanity that is being a JPop idol and I would guess poking fun of either Sunrise or their parent company for putting some of their stars through those kinds of publicity schedules as I'm sure they do.  As for the rest of the volume, it pretty much just clinches that Motoko and Kaolla are my current favorites for the series.  Motoko also happens to be my new favorite anime "shrieker".  There's just something about her voice reaching so high of a pitch that excites me.  I honestly didn't think that type of noise production was possible from a human.

For you Naru fans out there, be rest assured that Keitaro gets the stuffing beat out of him many times over in this two hours.  Heck, even Haruka gets a few good swats at him from time to time now.  I guess the beatings are contagious. ;)

"Such an exquisite mix of pleasure and pain."
